Artist Statement
My work is a direct expression of my spiritual experience. I am a mixed media artist working in the areas of photography and craft, as well as a teacher/facilitator of art for wellness & spirituality.
My photography gravitates toward imagery of natural forms, thresholds, pathways, and images invoking contemplation and mystery. I have worked in non-silver and traditional photo methods, and currently am exploring digital processes.
My work in craft is largely sculptural, encompassing small to large scale works from jewelry to landscapes for walking meditation. The jewelry I make are mini-sculptures with labyrinth and figurative/spiritual forms that enable the wearer to carry a sense of the sacred with them. Much of my mid-scale sculpture are either vessels or figurative/spiritual forms, masks, or totems/puppets/spirit dolls. Original and traditional labyrinths on canvas and the earth are my largest works, which also serve as environments for art and spirituality workshops.
I am particularly fond of creating one-of-a-kind, site-specific, and community art works and am interested in collaborative ventures.
