Become a MemberPROSPECTIVE MEMBER APPLICATION PROCESS
Submitted by the Membership & Standards Committees
to the NPAA Board of Directors
July 7, 2010
Before a prospective member applies, he or she should be told of the requirements
and expectations for being an active member in good standing. If the prospective member
feels he or she cannot fulfill those requirements and expectations, there is no point in
applying for membership.
If the prospective member feels he or she can fulfill those requirements and expectations,
then this process is to be followed.
The prospective member needs to:
1) submit a resume
2) submit a letter of application that explains why he or she wants to be a member
3) submit 5 images on a CD
4) arrange with the screening committee a place and time when the committee can meet
with the applicant to review the applicant's actual artwork.
The chairs of the Membership & Standards Committees will invite 3-5 active NPAA members
in good standing to join the screening committee to review the applicant's artwork and application.
These active members in good standing should have expertise, whenever possible, in the
applicant's medium (e.g., painting, sculpture, photography, etc.).
If the screening committee rejects the prospective member's application, the committee
chair will notify the applicant of the reasons in writing in a timely manner.
If the screening committee recommends an applicant for membership, the committee will make
its recommendation to the general membership by the first general membership meeting following
the review.
After the general membership accepts or rejects the screening committee's recommendation,
the chair of the committee will notify the applicant in writing of the general membership,s
final decision.
If the applicant is accepted into NPAA, he or she will be given a written letter that
explains the requirements and expectations for being an active member in good standing.
