NPAA Scholarship Competition Application

2023 Scholarship Competition
Over the course of twenty years the Northwestern Pennsylvania Art Association has awarded more than $50,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the Erie region pursuing art at the collegiate level.

We were joined in our efforts in 2019 by Erie Insurance, which raised funds to honor the memory of a beloved colleague, friend and family member. The Erie Insurance Robert Sajewski Memorial Scholarship recognizes Bob’s career as a graphic designer at Erie Insurance and his championing of the local arts community.

The NPAA is honored to partner with Erie Insurance and to share Bob’s legacy with the next generation of artists.
This year we shall award two Erie Insurance Robert Sajewski Memorial Scholarships and two NPAA Scholarship.

To be considered for these scholarships, you must submit:
  • 5-10 digital files of original artwork
    • Requirements for students’ digital images:
      • All images must be submitted in JPEG format
      • File naming: “last name–art title.jpg”; example: “Jones-Sunrise.jpg”
      • RGB color mode; 3.0 MB per image maximum
      • 1024 pixels maximum for the longest side of the artwork
      • File must be no smaller than 600 x 600 pixels
  • Two recommendations from an art teacher, guidance counselor or NPAA member
  • A 300–word essay that includes:
    • What college you will be attending and what course of study you’ve chosen
    • what your aspirations are for your pursuit of an arts major; and what art means to you.
  • Verification of attendance to an art school is required before receiving check

A panel of NPAA members will decide scholarship recipients based on the above criteria. If no applicants are considered worthy of scholarship awards, the monies will be carried forward for presentation next year.
